The short version
- Comped never asks for card numbers, bank logins or transactions.
- The cards you pick and what you've used stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
- When you use Ask Comped, your question and a summary of your perks are sent to answer it. We don't store them.
- No ads, no tracking across apps, and we never sell your data.
This policy explains how Comped (“Comped”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Comped iPhone app and getcomped.app. If you have a question, write to support@getcomped.app.
1. Information on your device
The core of Comped works on your iPhone. This includes:
- The cards you choose, any nicknames you give them, and when each card renews.
- The perks you mark as used, how much you used, and notes you add.
- Your answers to “will you use this?” and your reminder settings.
This information is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for Comped, Apple syncs it to your private iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. We can't access your iCloud data. Apple's handling of it is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. They don't go through our servers.
2. Ask Comped
Ask Comped answers questions like “Where can I stay for free in Doha?”. Here is what happens when you ask one:
- Voice. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone using Apple's speech recognition. On iOS 26 and later this happens entirely on the device. On earlier versions, Apple may process the audio on its servers when on-device recognition isn't available for your language. We never receive audio.
- What is sent. The text of your question, the earlier messages in the same conversation, and a summary of your wallet: card names and nicknames, each perk's name, what's left, its deadline and your “will you use this?” answer. No card numbers or account details exist in Comped to send.
- Where it goes. To our server at api.getcomped.app, hosted by Cloudflare, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude to write the answer. Anthropic may use web search to look up facts about a destination or merchant.
- What we keep. We don't store your questions, the answers or your wallet summary. We do keep a count of how many questions you asked each day and the processing used, to enforce fair-use limits and manage costs.
- Anthropic. Anthropic processes the request to produce the answer and does not use it to train its models. It may keep requests for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
To keep Ask Comped for real subscribers on real iPhones, the app uses Apple's App Attest. Our server stores the App Attest public key for your app install, a usage counter for that key, and your anonymous subscription ID. App Attest doesn't identify you personally.
3. Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. We use Qonversion to confirm whether your subscription is active. Qonversion receives an anonymous ID for your app install, your purchase and trial history from Apple, and basic device details such as the iOS version, app version, country and language. See Qonversion's privacy policy.
Our server checks your subscription status with Qonversion before answering an Ask Comped question, and caches the result for a few minutes.
4. Service providers
| Provider | Why | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App Store purchases, iCloud sync, App Attest, speech recognition | As described in sections 1 to 3 |
| Cloudflare | Hosts api.getcomped.app and this website | Requests to those addresses, including your IP address, which Cloudflare uses to deliver and protect the service |
| Anthropic | Writes Ask Comped answers | Your question, the conversation and the wallet summary |
| Qonversion | Subscription status | Anonymous install ID, purchase history, basic device details |
We don't sell or rent personal information, we don't share it for advertising, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Website
getcomped.app has no ads, analytics or tracking cookies. Cloudflare serves the site and handles standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver it securely.
6. How long we keep things
- Data on your device and in iCloud stays until you delete it or the app.
- Daily question counts are kept for up to 12 months.
- App Attest keys stay while your app install is active.
- Cached subscription status is replaced every few minutes.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your data. Remove cards in the app, or delete the app. To also remove Comped's data from iCloud, go to Settings, then your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage.
- Server data. Email support@getcomped.app from the email address you'd like us to reply to, to request a copy or deletion of what our server holds about your install.
- Turn things off. You can stop using Ask Comped at any time, and turn off microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict processing. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. Write to us to use them.
8. Children
Comped is meant for adults who hold credit cards. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
9. Security
Connections to our server are encrypted. Requests must come from a genuine copy of the app, verified by App Attest. Keys and secrets are stored encrypted with our hosting provider.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
